Sher & Blackwell has significant experience in the financing of liners, offshore rigs, supply boats and production platforms, ferryboats, tankers, barges, dredges, other vessels and shipyards. The firm has a long record of success representing foreign and U.S. clients in U.S. government guaranteed financing and private financing. We have successfully managed over one billion dollars in recent transactions for our clients.

Sher & Blackwell has handled some of the most difficult and complex U.S. government financed projects. Among the “firsts” that we have been able to successfully conclude was the construction period financing for several offshore drilling rigs under the Maritime Administration’s Title XI program, the first successful U.S. government financing for vessels built for export, floating note (LIBOR based) loans, loans using special purpose commercial paper vehicles, and combinations of state and federal financing. We have also participated in the first so-called “co-financing”, involving the use of Title XI and private bank financing.

At Sher & Blackwell, we understand that a successful transaction requires effective management skills in addition to legal expertise. We pride ourselves in being able to close a deal in a timely fashion because we understand that delays and complications make for added frustration and costs to our clients. We routinely conclude transactions involving multiple parties on different continents and are accustomed to organizing and managing even the most document-intensive transactions in an efficient and effective manner. We believe our record of successful transactions, detailed on the Accomplishments page of this website, speaks for itself.
