Mr. Robert Magovern, an associate with Sher &
Blackwell, is active in the firm’s telecommunications, administrative
law, and government relations practice groups. Mr. Magovern’s
practice concentrates on representing telecommunications clients on
matters before Congress, the Federal Communications Commission, and
federal courts.
Professional Background
Mr. Magovern joined Sher & Blackwell as a
summer associate in 2003 and became a full-time associate in 2004.
Prior to joining Sher & Blackwell, Mr. Magovern worked as a law
clerk in the commercial litigation department of a prominent New York
City law firm where he assisted clients in matters related to bankruptcy,
debtor-creditor relations, and securities fraud litigation. While
in law school, he interned at the Federal Communications Commission
in the Enforcement Bureau, where he was responsible for investigating
the practices of large common carriers engaged in telecommunications-related
activities. Mr. Magovern served as a Note and Comment Editor of the
Commlaw Conspectus: Journal for Communications Law and Policy, and
was a member of the Institute for Communications Law Studies.
Prior to law school, Mr. Magovern worked as an
Account Coordinator in the Business Technology section of a leading
international marketing communications firm located in Boston, Massachusetts,
where he represented clients on broadband, wireless, and e-commerce
matters.
