Jeffrey Lawrence is a partner in the firm and specializes in corporate, commercial and joint venture activity, maritime regulation, and antitrust and trade regulation. Mr. Lawrence represents U.S. and foreign companies and associations engaged in the maritime, intermodal transportation, and offshore energy industries. His work includes both international and U.S. domestic commerce.

Professional Background

Mr. Lawrence received his J.D. degree from Rutgers University Law School in 1977. Following graduation, he served as legal counsel to a commissioner at a federal energy agency. In 1979 Mr. Lawrence entered private practice. He is a founding partner of Sher & Blackwell, LLP.

Mr. Lawrence’s recent projects include: the establishment of several international maritime joint ventures; advice on competition law filings related to mergers and acquisitions in the international transportation industry; advice on transnational competition law requirements for horizontal undertakings; resolution of enforcement actions by Customs and Border Protection, Coast Guard, FMC, and FAA; the financing of a series of offshore energy projects and ocean going vessels; the establishment of nationwide equipment pools amongst different companies; transportation liability and risk management assessments; and government relations work on a variety of domestic transportation liability and regulatory issues.

Mr. Lawrence has spoken on antitrust, transportation regulation and transport liability issues before professional and industry associations.
